Oh, my, Irony is todays favourite word.

Leader of the British BNP. An extremist party of the right, who believe in governance through discrimination on Colour, Race and religion. Stands up and declares that England is for the English and we need to reclaim our country, practices what he preaches...by Living in Wales, a country whose history, whose very culture is not english, but celt. The leader of the BNP is, essentially, an immigrant.

And speaking of all things hideous and BNP. I even recieved a letter from them explaining to me how I am letting down my residents by not being concerned by the huge amount of 'on white racism' Now being lectured in written form (as all councillors were, as they mailed the letter and racism report to us all, I believe), by the BNP reporting on racism, is to my mind a little like the Nazi party mailing out their leaflet on why the weimer republic is not being inclusive with differing faiths.

We are not going to solve the ills of society by being led by a government that deliberately excludes people from society, or treats them as second, or third class citizens. The Nazi's and the Italian fascists tried this and their society, their rule collapsed because once you lead by being the superiors then hubris brings you down. British governments, though not perfect, have avoided for 400 years any form of civil war or revolution, unlike most european states (from the French Revolution, to the Year of Revolution of 1848, which is often unkonwn to non-historians, yet swept like fire through Europe and providing, in mnay ways the road to the first world war). Revolution happens when the governemnt doesn't include and discriminates. I think the reason that British society has sailed along a fairly smooth passage is down to its inherently Liberal nature. Historicall we are a Liberal and tolerant nation, we should be proud of this as we should be proud of what this tiny island has bought to the world for good, as we should also acknowledge what we have done in our history that is inexcusable, providing we learn from our gross errors. We, historically have cared for some of the great figures, we sheltered Karl Karx, Europes greatest revolutionary in the late 1800's.
The BNP and their single party policy makes my skin crawl. Not just because it is inherently unpalletable, but because we would have to sacrifice all that has made our democracy withstand the trials and tribulations of history. The problems that we have in society is not singularly related to immigration and never will be. They are many and some are more harder to solve than others, yet they will never be solved without the need for tolerance so you may understand the very nature of your society. You cannot fix what you do not understand.
