Oh my...You have children, they'll one day see this.

I am not a huge fan of the celebrity culture, we appear to find ourselves drowning in, with very little hope of salvation. Yet, I guess film actors are pretty much top of the pile and have been for nigh on fifty years, until sports stars started challenging. And, before I go on I have a lot of respect for actors, it must be a tough job. What I do struggle with is the huge amounts of rubbish that does occasionally pop out. Especially in acceptance speeches, these tend to turn me off as they are far too gushing and non-sensical or suggest that the role they played will somehow change the world and could well be more important than all the bad stuff that happens in the world. I never expected to see an acceptance speech this cringe worthy, but it is.

Now that you have returned from behind the sofa, or shut your jaw. Please explain to me why such importance is placed upon these people. Would Cary Grant have ever behaved like this?

Wow, that's pretty impressive stamina. I am still not sure if it's for real, or just the greatest piece of Satire I have ever seen. I especially love the intriuging use of the word 'gather'. I shall endeavour to add this to my vocabularly at the next opportunity.

I guess the problem is, when actors don't have a script to follow then they have no idea what to do.

Maybe they should change the system so that all the nominees make their acceptance speech and the best speech wins the award.

I like that idea on every level. Though in fairness there should therefore be a punishment for the most cringeworthy, perhaps being made to appear in bad films, like rocky 5, for example.
