With the abject destruction in one of their safest seats, which no one had, even though they were adrift in the polls, predicted Labour could lose, signals, to me the end of the new labour experiment. If replicated at a general election then Labour would be annihilated within the scottish borders, their historical power base and the Tory majority would be unreachable.  Can Brown survive this? I think that the date of the byelection will help him, just before the recess he may be able to take the time to regroup and not be pilloried at the despatch box. The breathing space may be vital. Will the MP's though sit through recess and think of their majorities? I honestly now believe that he will go through the summer and then be given a period of time until the next chance to elect a leader to prove that he can reverse the almost catastrophic decline he has managed to achieve in his time. Will he be able to do this? I doubt myself he will and I think there will be a new leader by Christ...

I, and my beautiful wife are on our annual Holidays to the In-laws in the South of France. It is really hot as I type this post tonight. Tomorrow I have a 10 mile road race from Martigues to Caro, which looks as though it may well be hotter! Yesterday we watched the quarter Finals of the World Beach Soccer world Cup 2008. It was really enjoyable, especially to watch Eric Cantona's team, France, get knocked out. Ever since he scored the winner against Liverpool in 1995 I have struggle to like the fella.

Undoubtedly the most devastating thing ever unleasehed onto Robert Mugabe, is the Queen recinding his Knighthood. No doubt once he is aware he will resign and allow fair and free elections. Complete Tokenism, perhaps the question should be, how did he get one in the first place?

With the final big primaries out of the way, Obama leads Clinton , 1840 to 1684 out of the victory line of 2025. With the Superdelegates, in the main, saying they will vote according to the way the state voted in the Primary elections. It looks like Obama will get the Democratic nod at the Convention. The two primaries of yesterday were good for Obama, but weakens Clinton. Obama, took a commanding lead from North Carolina, with 56% of the vote. Clinton narrowly won in Indiana with 51 to 49% of the vote. Clinton needed a far larger victory margin than 2% to dent Obama's chances. Clintons campaign seems to be running out of steam, and if the superdelegates vote according to state choice then her Presdential bid is over, possible for ever. The only other possible scenerio, I will label the nuclear option is if the superdelegates decide to vote for their own preference.
